Man found shot in car in west Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WIAT) – Birmingham police are investigating a homicide in the 700 block of 8th Terrace West Tuesday evening.

According to spokesman Truman Fitzgerald, patrol officers were called to the area shortly before 9 p.m. on reports of gunshots. When they arrived, they were directed to the parking lot of an apartment complex in the College Hills neighborhood.

Officers then found an adult man who had been shot in a vehicle. Birmingham firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was sitting in the parked car when he was shot. Fitzgerald stated that investigators believe he was the target of the attack.
