One person was found dead in a house fire caused by strong winds in Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood

Firefighters found one person dead in a burning home in Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood on Wednesday, while another person received CPR.

The fire was reported just before 11 a.m. at a home in the 1900 block of Niantic Way, west of 21st Street.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the one-story home, said Capt. Justin Sylvia, a spokesman for the Sacramento Fire Department.

He said strong winds late Wednesday morning pushed the flames toward the back of their home and the fire threatened to spread to a nearby home.

Firefighters brought the fire under control and prevented the flames from reaching the other house, Sylvia said. Fire investigators were on scene trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Sylvia said firefighters found one person dead inside the home and were performing CPR on another person. He did not have any further information about the two fire victims. Sylvia said the other residents of the burning home got out safely.
