Investigation into Ellendale house fire underway | News

ELLENDALEDel. – On Saturday, June 15, at 4:33 p.m., the Ellendale Fire Company, with assistance from Milton Fire Department Inc. Station 85, Memorial Fire Company Station 89 and Sussex County EMS, responded to a house fire on Spicer Road in Ellendale.

Officials said crews arrived on scene at 4:36 p.m. and said flames were visible on all four sides of the second floor. According to fire officials, Engine 75-3 quickly followed, deploying two 1 3/4-inch attack lines to fight the heavy fire on the second floor and attic. At the same time, Tanker 75-4 began delivering water.

Next to arrive was Engine/Tanker 75-8, which reinforced the firefighting efforts with a third line of attack and increased the water supply. Crews from the Milton Fire Department laid a line up to the attic while Ladder 85 took up position and opened the roof to vent the fire.

Tanker 89 of Memorial Fire Company in Slaughter Beach joined the effort and completed the final water supply position. Meanwhile, Engine 75-5 of Ellendale’s Lincoln station continued fire suppression in the attic. Firefighters rotated throughout the incident to manage fatigue and ensure an effective response until recovery and overhaul operations were completed.

No injuries were reported and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
