A married father of three shot his own brother and wounded their mother in the family’s Queens home on Saturday night before turning the gun on himself, police and sources said.

According to police, 33-year-old Karamjit Multani stormed into the room of his 27-year-old brother Vipanpal Multani around 10:30 p.m. and opened fire, hitting him in the upper body before fleeing his home at the corner of 95th Street and 11th Avenue in South Richmond Hill.

According to sources, Karamjit Multani was later found a mile away with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a gun next to his body.

The brothers’ 52-year-old mother suffered graze wounds. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Vipanpal did not die immediately, but succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

“He told me, ‘Please don’t let me die,'” the family’s neighbor told CBS News, recalling running into the house as chaos broke out.

“He later died in my arms.”

The shocking murder and subsequent suicide occurred after a quiet evening when the family had eaten pizza together, the brothers’ shocked father told the news channel.

What drove Karamjit, who was married and had three small children, to kill his younger brother is still a mystery.

“We don’t know. I don’t know,” the father said, adding that Karamjit went into his brother’s bedroom and immediately riddled him with bullets without warning.

According to his father, Karamjit was financially secure and showed no signs of aggression toward his family – who had no idea he owned a gun.

When asked if there had been any problems between his sons, the grieving father replied: “No major problems. Sometimes small disagreements, no problems.”
