Caltrain service between San Francisco and San Jose was suspended this weekend to clear the tracks for electric train testing

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — All train service between San Francisco and San Jose will be suspended on Saturday and Sunday to clear the tracks for testing of the electric trains, Caltrain said.

Limited bus service with limited passenger capacity is available only at the San Jose Diridon, Palo Alto and Millbrae stations.

The buses will not travel to San Francisco because there will be no stops or bus service north of Millbrae, Caltrain said.

The shutdown is part of Caltrain’s efforts to electrify the railroad with trains that are designed to be faster, cleaner and more efficient.

The new trains are scheduled to come onto the market in September.
