Portland police identify rideshare driver killed in fatal shooting

PORTLAND, Oregon (COIN) — A rideshare driver who was shot and killed in Southeast Portland Tuesday night has been identified by police as 42-year-old Joshua Kelvin of Aumsville.

The Portland Police Bureau said Kelvin’s family has been notified of his death.

A teenager was also shot in the incident and was in critical condition in hospital. However, police have not released an update on the boy’s condition.

Just before midnight Tuesday night, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 5700 block of Southeast 130th Place, near Southeast Ramona Street. When they arrived, they found a man – later identified as Kelvin – and a teenager who had been shot in a vehicle.

Officials later confirmed that the man was working as a rideshare driver at the time of the shooting and the teen was riding as a passenger. It is unclear which rideshare company the man worked for.

Police said no suspects were found when they arrived at the scene. No further information on suspects was given.

Police said investigations were ongoing and anyone with information was asked to contact police.
