4 people arrested, 1 wanted in drug trafficking investigation in Washington County, Virginia | WJHL

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — Five people have been charged with multiple crimes following a months-long drug trafficking investigation in Washington County, Virginia.

According to a press release from the Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), law enforcement seized more than two kilograms of crystal meth, a “significant amount” of a fentanyl/heroin mixture, several firearms and thousands of dollars as part of the investigation.


The sheriff’s office reports that four people were arrested and one of them has an arrest warrant in the investigation.

The following people were arrested and charged:

  • David Jerome Berry, 36, of Abingdon
    • 3 counts of felony, 3rd offense of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance
    • 1 count of money laundering
    • 1 count of money laundering
    • 1 count of distribution of fentanyl (terrorist weapon)
    • 1 count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance
    • 1 count of possession of more than 200 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute
  • Pamela Sue Snead, 56, of Marion
    • 1 count: conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine
    • 1 count of possession of more than 200 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute
    • 1 count of conspiracy to distribute a Schedule I or II controlled substance
  • Anthony Chadwick Harless, 45, Marion
    • 1 count: conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine
    • 1 count of possession of more than 200 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute
    • 1 count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
    • 1 count of money laundering
  • Bridget Jan Matney, 44, from Abingdon
    • 1 count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
    • 1 count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance
    • 1 count of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance
    • 1 count of illegal possession of weapons
    • 1 count of possession of a firearm while possessing a Schedule I or Schedule II controlled substance
    • 1 count of child endangerment
    • 1 count of money laundering

Brandon Scott Wyatt, 39, of Abingdon, has not yet been taken into custody, but the Sheriff’s Office reports that he is facing the following charges:

  • 1 count of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I or II controlled substance
  • 1 count of conspiracy to distribute a Schedule I or II controlled substance
  • 1 count of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance
  • 1 count of possession of ammunition by a felon
  • 1 count of child endangerment

On Thursday, WCSO said the investigation was ongoing and that anyone with knowledge of Wyatt’s whereabouts should call the sheriff’s office at 276-676-6000.

In addition to WCSO, the Virginia State Police, Smyth County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia Probation and Parole Agency, Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted in the investigation.
