NOPD seeks man in sexual assault cases in Lafitte Greenway

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit, along with First District officers and detectives, are searching for a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted two women who were walking or jogging on the Lafitte Greenway on Thursday.

Investigators say the first assault occurred at about 7:10 a.m. at the corner of North Broad and St. Louis Street. The second occurred at about 12:23 p.m. in the 3700 block of Conti Street.

In both cases, the female victim described the attacker as a man wearing dark clothing and riding a bicycle, according to police.

During their investigation, detectives identified 37-year-old Joseph C. Davis as the suspected perpetrator of these attacks. Police are seeking him for attempted first-degree rape and simple assault in one of the incidents.
