Atlanta Hawks secure top pick in NBA Draft Lottery, European prospects on the horizon

The Atlanta Hawks will be picked first in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft, scheduled for June 26-27.

Despite their low 3% rating, the Hawks earned the top pick after finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 36-46 record and losing to the Chicago Bulls in the Play-In tournament.

They will have the honor of choosing first for the first time in 49 years.

The Washington Wizards will select the second place and the Houston Rockets were awarded the third place. After selecting Victor Wembanyama as the first pick last year, the San Antonio Spurs will select fourth in the 2024 NBA Draft class. The Detroit Pistons round out the top five.

Two Frenchmen are also expected to be chosen first this year, with Alexandre Sarr of the Perth Wildcats and Zacchari Risacher of JL Bourg being the top choices. However, it still remains to be seen what strategy Hawks general manager Landry Fields will employ.
