Man arrested after sexually assaulting teenager

A man was arrested after sexually assaulting a young girl in a supermarket parking lot, police said.

The attack happened outside Morrisons in Wellingborough at around 9:30pm BST on April 28.

Northamptonshire Police said a man approached the girl in Swansgate Center and went with her to the supermarket.

Investigators have interviewed a 44-year-old man who was released on bail.

Northamptonshire Police said the girl was sitting outside the shopping center on Midland Road when a man approached her.

They walked along Midland Road, then along Commercial Way and along the paths outside the council offices to Morrisons on Oxford Street.

Police said she was then the victim of a sexual assault before she could leave.

Officers appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.
