One dead after collision between semi-trailer and RV on I-70 in Grand County

THOMPSON SPRINGS, Grand County – One person is dead following an accident on Interstate 70 involving a tractor-trailer and a motor home, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Cpl. Michael Gordon said the tractor-trailer was traveling east near mile marker 200, near the Utah-Colorado border. Shortly before 5 a.m., the tractor-trailer driver veered left off the road for an unknown reason.

Gordon said the driver overcorrected too sharply to the left, causing the semi to overturn, which ended up in the second lane. An RV traveling in that lane then struck the semi. Gordon said a passenger in the RV died.

No further information was given on how many people were in the RV or whether there were any known injuries to the driver or other possible passengers.
