Woman dies after tragic car crash in Anne Arundel County

FRIENDSHIP, Md. – A tragic car accident on the night of July 14, 2024 left a District Heights woman dead and a man seriously injured.

Emergency crews responded to a crash on Friendship Road near Fairhaven Road around 9:30 p.m. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 2020 Nissan Versa was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a left turn. The vehicle left the road, traveled up an embankment, struck several trees, and overturned in a ditch.

The driver and passenger were taken to UM Capital Region Medical Center. The driver suffered cardiac arrest en route and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver was identified as Ramiah Carleen-Teresa Peoples, 25, of District Heights, Maryland. The passenger, 24-year-old Elijah Sevonne Brown, also of District Heights, was seriously injured.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Traffic Safety Division is investigating.
