Incident of road rage leads to charges of disturbing the peace in St. Albans

ST. ALBANS – A Grand Isle man faces disorderly conduct charges after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a driving aggression incident on Interstate 89, Vermont State Police said.

Samuel Smith, 43, was summoned to court on August 20 following the incident, which occurred near Exit 19 in St. Albans at around 2.28pm on Thursday.

The police received a report that a red Chevrolet pickup truck had cut off another vehicle and that the driver had pulled out a weapon.

A few minutes later, police found the pickup truck traveling south on I-89 in Georgia.

The Vermont State Police and the Milton Police stopped the vehicle on US

Route 2 near Jasper Mine Road in Colchester.

An investigation revealed that Smith, the driver of the pickup truck, pulled out a firearm during the incident, police said.

Authorities confiscated the firearm and issued a disorderly conduct charge against Smith.

The other driver involved in the incident was identified as Phillip Bauchan, 39, of Essex Junction.
