Authorities investigate shooting involving Federal Way police

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Authorities are investigating after a man was shot by Federal Way police at an apartment complex Sunday morning.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, officers responded to the Kitts Corner Apartments at 1201 S. 336th Street for a domestic violence incident involving shots fired.

Arriving officers reportedly found a man armed with a firearm on the patio of a residence. At some point during the altercation, two officers fired their weapons, striking the man. Police said the 42-year-old man was taken to the hospital.

No further injuries were reported.

The officers were placed on leave in accordance with department policy.

Valley’s independent investigation team is investigating the incident.
