Woman in critical condition after gunshot wound; suspect sought

A woman in her 20s is in critical condition after being shot during an alleged domestic incident in Hartford on Sunday, police said.

Hartford police responded to a call to an address on Charter Oak Place shortly before 2 a.m. early Sunday morning after receiving reports of a shooting.

Officers who responded to the call found a woman with a gunshot wound, police said.

According to police, the shooting is being investigated as a domestic incident and officers are working to find the shooter.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is in critical condition, police said.

Hartford police said the investigation is still ongoing.

Last week, a woman was killed in Hartford and three men were treated for gunshot wounds after separate shootings late Thursday and early Friday, police said.

In Friday’s incident, police officers responded to 40 Cleveland Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired and found two victims, a woman and a man, both in their 20s.

The woman, identified as 23-year-old Shamyria Williams of Hartford, was unresponsive. The man at the scene was awake and conscious and was also taken to an area hospital with non-fatal gunshot wounds, police said.

According to police, both victims were in a vehicle at the time of the shooting.

According to Police Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert, police believe it was a volley of gunfire.

“We believe both victims were unintended targets,” Bosivert said during a news conference Friday. “They just happened to be stuck in a crowded street when two parties, two groups of parties, were shooting at each other.”
