East Bridgewater police investigate shooting of teenager outside apartment complex

EAST BRIDGEWATER – East Bridgewater police are investigating after a 17-year-old boy was shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex Thursday night, according to Police Chief Michael Jenkins.

The shooting occurred on July 4 shortly before 9 p.m. at the Pompohono Pines complex on Robins Street.

Police responded to a 911 call and found the teenager with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Officers and paramedics from the East Bridgewater Fire Department rendered aid before the victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim and another 17-year-old man were riding a scooter at the time of the incident.

Authorities do not currently believe that the shooting was a random act.

East Bridgewater Police are following up on several leads and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 508-378-7223.

Since the investigation is ongoing, no further details have been released at this time.
