Woman shot in Houston Walmart parking lot

A woman was injured late Wednesday night after an unidentified man opened fire on her vehicle because she believed he was driving too close.

The woman told the Houston Police Department that the shooter was walking along a fence in the parking lot outside a Walmart on 4400 North Freeway, according to OnScene TV. She was driving next to him when he fired through the driver’s side door, hitting her in the thigh. The injury is not life-threatening and she is expected to make a full recovery, according to an HPD officer.

“She thinks he thought she was going to hit him or something,” HPD Lt. R. Wilkens said in an interview with OnScene TV. “The suspect left the scene quickly. She stopped and received medical attention from the Houston Fire Department and is going to be okay.”

Wilkens said HPD was working to identify the shooter Wednesday night. Residents should contact HPD’s Major Assault and Domestic Violence Unit with any information regarding the incident.
