1 injured, car catches fire after collision with power pole in Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG, W.Va (WDTV) – A patient was taken to the hospital this evening after crashing into a power pole.

Harrison County 911 officials confirmed that the accident occurred on West Pike Street and that officers also found a car fire at the scene.

The fire was extinguished and the man was taken to United Hospital Center by emergency services.

The electricity pylon also suffered “significant” damage, but did not fall over. While the accident site was cleared and the fire was extinguished, the road was partially closed for a short time.

A witness, Jesse Maxson, told 5 News that he and his family were traveling on West Pike Street when he noticed the vehicle on fire.

He said he stopped, got out of the car, found the man in the vehicle and pulled her from the wreckage.

The patient’s current condition is currently unknown.

The Anmoore Fire Department, Clarksburg Fire Department, Clarksburg Police Department and Harrison County EMS arrived at the scene.
