Brick woman charged with sexually assaulting Monmouth County student

WALL, NJ — A former Wall Township High School teacher has been charged with sexual assault for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student, authorities said Thursday.

Julie Rizzitello, 36, of Brick Township, who was an English teacher at Wall High School, is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree witness tampering and three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago and Wall Township Police Chief Sean O’Halloran said in a joint statement.

According to authorities, Rizzitello resigned from her teaching position earlier this week.

Authorities did not disclose what prompted the investigation. Investigators with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Bureau and the Wall Township Police Department, assisted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Brick Township Police Department, found that Rizzitello’s alleged criminal conduct began earlier this year, authorities said.

Authorities allege Rizzitello “performed various sexual acts with the victim” on multiple occasions and in at least three jurisdictions: Belmar, Brick and Wall.

Charges have been filed in Monmouth and Ocean counties, authorities said.

Rizzitello was arrested Wednesday and is currently being held in the Monmouth County Jail pending a detention hearing in Monmouth County Superior Court, authorities said.
