Arrest in Robeson County murder investigation

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WBTW) – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with a murder that occurred near Lumberton last week.

Shyheim Alford, 24, of Fairmont was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied property and assault with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor.

On Thursday, June 27, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a call in the 1300 block of Wiregrass Road in Lumberton regarding a single-shot incident.

23-year-old Terry Leach Jr. was found with a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries.

Alford is being held without bail at the Robeson County Detention Center.
