Two suspects arrested in stabbing, one for fleeing arrest

Edinburgh police arrested two people on Tuesday in connection with a knife incident.

Edinburg city spokeswoman Roxanne Lerma said officers were called to the 1100 block of West Trenton Road around 8:30 a.m. to investigate a man who had been stabbed.

Officers spoke with the victim, who said he was stabbed and assaulted by his girlfriend and male friend in his apartment in the 500 block of North Edgewood. The suspects were identified as 30-year-old Miguel Angel Pedroza and 29-year-old Caroline Valadez.

Lerma said officers found the victim had stab wounds, multiple bruises to his face and head, and multiple cuts to his knuckles. Despite his injuries, the victim is in stable condition.

The Edinburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation into the stabbing and identified the suspects as Pedroza and Valadez.

Lerma said officers spotted Pedroza and Valadez in a vehicle and attempted to stop them, but the suspects then fled from police units.

Lerma said Edinburg officers called off the pursuit after the suspects crossed the city limits and the Texas Department of Public Safety took over the pursuit. The pursuit eventually ended at 2nd Street and the corner of Business 83.

A third suspect, identified as 31-year-old Catarina Olivo, was arrested for fleeing arrest in a vehicle.
