Suspect arrested on multiple traffic violations after police chase in Willmar, Minnesota. – West Central Tribune

WILLMAR – A driver was arrested around 1:29 p.m. Friday after a brief police chase in Willmar Township in Kandiyohi County.

According to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to stop a motor vehicle for several traffic violations near the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and 37th Avenue Northeast north of Willmar.

The vehicle initially gave way before returning to the lane and continuing south at high speed, the press release said.

The deputy pursued the vehicle for approximately one mile until the vehicle stopped near the Highway 71/US Highway 12 exit.

The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested for fleeing from the police, not having insurance, driving while disqualified and other violations of motor vehicle registration regulations.

Information about the identity of the driver was not disclosed in the press release.

The incident remains under investigation. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Willmar Police Department.
