1 dead in hit-and-run accident on Mt. Vernon Avenue in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 1, 2024) – One person died in a hit-and-run crash at the corner of Mt Vernon Avenue and California Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal hit-and-run accident occurred on Sunday at around 2:21 p.m. For unknown reasons, at least one car collided at the intersection. A passenger in the vehicle that was struck then attempted to stop the fleeing suspect. However, the attempts failed and the passenger later died at Kern Medical.

The victim’s name has not yet been released by authorities and traffic investigators have yet to determine the details of this hit-and-run accident and the suspect involved.
