Federal authorities accuse deported child molester from Guatemala of illegally re-entering the United States

BOSTON, MA – Wilson Hernandez-Bautista, a 34-year-old from Guatemala, pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court in Boston to illegal reentry of a deported alien. The confession came after his indictment by a federal grand jury in December 2023.

Hernandez-Bautista had already been deported from the United States on October 9, 2013, but was able to return illegally.

His illegal presence was discovered while he was serving a sentence for child abuse, a crime for which he was convicted in Essex County Superior Court on November 23. While he was in custody, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigated his status.

The charges against Hernandez-Bautista carry a possible sentence of up to two years in prison, followed by one year of probation and a fine of up to $250,000. U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton has scheduled sentencing for October 3.

The sentence will be determined in accordance with the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and applicable law.
