The valleys south of the Rhone were soaked by particularly heavy rainfall, police said.

The body of a man who had been reported missing by his partner was found in a hotel in the Alpine resort of Saas-Grund early Sunday.

It is assumed that he was surprised by the flood.

According to police, another man has been missing since Saturday evening in the Binn area in the upper Rhone Valley near the Italian border.
