Richmond church music director arrested – NBC Bay Area

A volunteer at a Richmond church was arrested on suspicion of rape, police said Friday.

Prosecutors charged 37-year-old Miguel Angel Villalobos with two counts of rape and two counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object, police said.

On March 21, a woman reported to Richmond Police that a volunteer working as music director at Saint Cornelius Catholic Church had sexually harassed her. An investigation led to the arrest of Villalobos.

On Friday, no one answered the phone at St. Cornelius Church.

The woman said Villalobos allegedly assaulted her while she attended music classes at church. She said the abuse began when she was a minor and continued for “several years” until she was an adult.

Richmond police said Villalobos has worked at several churches throughout the Bay Area since 2010, including Saint Clement Catholic Church in Hayward and Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Concord. No one could be reached at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church on Friday. Saint Clement was reached but did not immediately provide comment.

Police fear there may be more alleged victims. Anyone who believes they had inappropriate contact with Villalobos or knows of such an alleged crime should contact Detective Terry Thomas at (510) 621-1746 or via email at [email protected].
