Elderly man arrested for murder of his wife in Orange County

An elderly man was arrested after his wife was found shot to death in Orange County.

The suspect was identified as 85-year-old John Kort, according to Santa Ana police.

On June 23, officers responded to reports of a shooting at a home in the 2300 block of North Towner Street in Santa around 11:53 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found John’s wife, Nancy Kort, 70, with multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body. Despite all rescue efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The homicide squad believes that the fatal shooting was the result of a domestic violence dispute between the couple.

John was arrested at the scene for murder. The circumstances leading to the woman’s death remain under investigation.
