Russia attacks nine municipalities in Sumy Oblast

According to the regional military administration, on May 8, Russian forces attacked nine settlements along the border with Sumy Oblast.

The attacks caused 183 explosions in the region, hitting the towns of Yunakivka, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, Bilopillia, Znob-Novhorodske, Myropillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Krasnopillia and Shalyhyne.

Throughout the day, Russian troops attacked the border of Sumy Oblast with mines, drones, artillery, mortars, rocket launchers and grenades. Russian forces also attacked two communities, Yunakivka and Shalyhyne, with airstrikes using KAB-guided bombs.

No casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure were reported.

Attacks are a daily reality for residents of vulnerable border communities in Sumy Oblast. Almost daily, nearby Russian forces target the region with multiple weapons, sometimes damaging infrastructure and killing civilians.
