Two more MSC ships targeted by the Houthis

Two more Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) cargo ships were attacked by the Houthis yesterday Squirt Estimates now suggest the number of merchant ships attacked in the region since November last year is approaching 100.

The MSC Gina And MSC Diego – both about 4,000 TEU in size – were targeted, although there were no reports of damage. The MSC Gina was subjected to a similar attack by the Houthis on April 7.

Meanwhile, the owners of the… Galaxy Guide, a car carrier that was hijacked with its crew more than 160 days ago, the Houthis have called on the Houthis to release the crew. “Unfortunately, the occupation now seems to have been forgotten by the outside world and no longer serves any purpose in advancing the Houthis’ cause. Therefore, a renewed call is made to ask the Houti leadership to be humane and release the 25 crew members who are being held. “Not a good reason so that they can return to their loved ones,” said a statement from the ship’s owner.

The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a pro-Israel American think tank, has counted all attacks on merchant ships over the past seven months (see map below).
