One day after the mass shooting at an Arkansas grocery store, the fourth victim dies, according to police

A fourth person has died after being injured Friday morning when a man opened fire at an Arkansas grocery store, according to Arkansas State Police.

Officials identified the four people killed as 23-year-old Callie Weems, 50-year-old Roy Sturgis, 62-year-old Shirley Taylor and 81-year-old Ellen Shrum.

Five women and two men between the ages of 20 and 65 were injured in the shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce. Several people are still in the hospital, and one woman is in critical condition, state police said.

Two police officers were injured in a shootout with the suspect. Officials said 31-year-old Fordyce police officer James Johnson was released from a Little Rock hospital and 24-year-old Stuttgart police officer John Hudson suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was treated by police for injuries from the shooting before being taken to the Ouachita County Detention Center. The 44-year-old man has been charged with four counts of capital murder, and officials said additional charges are pending.

The police did not provide any information about a possible motive for the violent act.
