Police shoot dog that attacked man in Chicago alley

CHICAGO (CBS) — A police officer shot and killed one of two stray dogs that attacked a man in the East Chatham neighborhood on Monday morning.

At around 10:35 a.m., officers responded to the alley in the 8000 block of South Maryland Avenue, where two stray dogs repeatedly bit a 20-year-old man.

According to police, an officer responding to the incident shot one of the dogs and both dogs ran away.

The bitten man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition with numerous bite wounds.

The dog that was shot was later found dead more than a mile away, in the 1600 block of East 77th Street.
