Gordon Ramsay is ‘lucky’ to be alive after serious bicycle accident

Gordon Ramsay has a “very important message for all fathers out there” following a serious bicycle accident this week.

The celebrity chef shared on Instagram ahead of Father’s Day that he was lucky to be alive after a “really bad accident” while cycling in Connecticut – all thanks to his helmet.

“It really shook me,” said Ramsay, 57. “Honestly, I’m glad to be here. The incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses and hospital that have taken care of me this week have been amazing. But honestly, you have to wear a helmet. I don’t care how short the ride is. I don’t care that these helmets cost money. But they are essential. Even with the kids, on a short ride, you have to wear a helmet.”

The Kitchen nightmares The star said he luckily didn’t break any bones or suffer any “serious injuries,” but revealed a massive bruise on his torso. “I’m a bit bruised and look like a purple potato,” he wrote in the post’s caption.

“Now I’m glad to be standing here,” he continued in the video. “I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m getting through it somehow. But I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a helmet.”

Ramsay, who has enjoyed cycling in his spare time for years and is an avid marathon runner and triathlete, has six children with his wife Tana Ramsay.

The restaurant owner concluded his caption with wishes to everyone: “Have a great Father’s Day and stay healthy.”
