Driver of ‘ghost car’ arrested in East Elmhurst after traffic stop reveals weapons and threatening note: NYPD – QNS

Police officers from the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst discovered an arsenal of weapons in a ghost vehicle they stopped at the corner of Ditmars Boulevard and 86th Street in East Elmhurst early Wednesday morning.

NYPD Chief of Division Jeffrey Maddrey held a press conference at the 110th Precinct Wednesday afternoon to discuss what the sergeant and three officers from the 110th Precinct’s public safety team found when they stopped a black Ford Explorer because its license plates were blacked out.

“They seized a 9mm Glock pistol and nine fully loaded magazines; they seized heavy body armor; they seized handcuffs, NYPD uniform pieces, a stun gun, several knives and an extendable baton,” Maddrey said.

Officers arrested 29-year-old Judd Sanson, who claimed to live on Jamaica Avenue near 192nd Street in Jamaica Estates, but Maddrey noted that investigators are checking to see if that is his real address. Maddrey also said a New York City transit vest was seized, as well as a Guy Fawkes mask popular with anarchists, a blowtorch and a heavy whip.

An ominous note was also found in a foreign language, in which he stated that he was going to do something bad, but Maddrey said he was not allowed to talk about its contents.

Sanson was arrested at the 110th Precinct, where he was charged with illegal possession of a weapon and ammunition and a misdemeanor for having obscured license plates.

Maddrey pointed out that Sanson’s arrest came just a block from where a Venezuelan migrant shot and killed two police officers from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights on Monday, June 3.

“For arrests of this magnitude, the amount of ammunition and NYPD paraphernalia in the car was significant,” Maddrey said, adding that the investigation was ongoing and that the New York Joint Terrorism Task Force and other law enforcement agencies had been notified of the contents of the letter found in the vehicle.
