HCHSA provides latest information on 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Houston

The Harris County-Houston Sports Authority held a press conference Tuesday to discuss the latest developments regarding the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches taking place in Houston.

The conference came four months after it was announced that Houston would host seven games.

In 2022, Houston was one of 11 U.S. host cities selected for the World Cup. In addition to the American representation, three cities were selected in Mexico and two in Canada.

This announcement solidifies Houston’s reputation as a popular location for hosting major sporting events. Texas’ largest city last hosted the Super Bowl in 2017, the March Madness Final Four in 2023 and the College Football Playoff in 2024.
