“Absolutely alarming, must be reprimanded”

Recently Bollywood Actress Raveena Tandon and her driver were allegedly attacked by a mob in Mumbai’s Carter Road for driving recklessly. As the situation escalated, Raveena got out of her car to speak to the crowd but was allegedly pushed and punched. There were several false allegations against the actress that she was drunk and her driver hit an old woman. Actor Kangana Ranaut expressed her support to Raveena a day after the incident. In her Instagram stories, Kangana called the incident “absolutely alarming” and condemned the road rage “and demanded that these people must be reprimanded.” Kangana wrote: “What happened to Raveena Tandon ji is absolutely alarming; had there been 5-6 more people in the opposing group, she would have been lynched; we condemn such road rage; these people must be reprimanded. They must not get away with such violent and malicious behavior.”

Police found that Raveena’s car did not collide with anyone. In a social media video, a man also claimed that Raveena had attacked his mother. He said the incident took place when he was walking with his mother, sister and niece near the actor’s house.

Mumbai Police issued a statement explaining the details of the incident. It confirmed that Raveena Tandon was not drunk as claimed by the complainants. Zone 9 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajtilak Roshan said, “The complainant has made a false complaint in the alleged video. We have checked all the CCTV footage of the residential complex and found that the actress’ driver was backing the car from the road into the residential complex when this family was crossing the same lane. The family stopped the car and told the driver to check if there were any people behind the car before reversing, following which an argument broke out between them.”
