Suspect accused of killing two people, including Buffalo woman, captured in Niagara Falls

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police say the suspect in the May 6 shooting that killed two people, including a Buffalo woman, is now in custody.

Officials say Jermaine Williams, 23, was captured Friday by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force in Niagara Falls.

Police said it started with a tampering involving a group of people and Williams at the “Sexy Red” concert in downtown Rochester on May 5. After the show, those involved in the fight were hanging out on Rialto Street. That’s where Williams is accused of firing more than a dozen bullets, hitting 3 people.

Shatina Jones, 46, of Buffalo, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Timothy Chealey, 43, died at the scene. The third person shot has recovered from his injuries.

Williams was arrested without incident and transported back to Rochester. He is charged with two counts of 2nd degree murder.

William is expected to be arraigned Saturday morning. Additional charges may be considered by a Grand Jury.
