Investigations launched after man allegedly spat on employees “multiple times”

An investigation has been launched after a man reportedly repeatedly spat on an employee at a transfer center in the northeast.

Northumbria Police are investigating an attack that reportedly occurred at the South Shields Interchange on Keppel Street at around 10am on 3 April.

It was reported that a man approached an employee, then became aggressive and spat at him several times.

Police have released a photo of a man they would like to track down.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Officers investigating an attack in South Tyneside have released an image of a man they would like to identify.

“On Wednesday 3 April, at around 10am, police received a report of an assault at the South Shields Interchange on Keppel Street.

“It was reported that a man approached an employee, became aggressive and then spat at him several times.

“Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing and police have today (Wednesday) released an image of a man they would like to trace.

“He was in the area at the time of the incident and officers believe he may have valuable information that could assist the ongoing investigation.

“The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the ‘Report’ page on the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting crime reference 038080J/24.”
