Stabbing reported at subway station, hours after attack on bus driver

A late-night attack is being investigated amid another day of violence involving the Los Angeles subway system on Monday.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed that officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a bus stop in the area of ​​West Olympic Boulevard and South La Brea Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

The spokesman could not provide any further details about the investigation, but the crime scene has been cordoned off.

The video also showed someone being taken away in an ambulance.

The incident occurred shortly after the attack on a bus driver in downtown Los Angeles earlier that day.

“A female suspect entered the bus in an aggressive manner and began arguing with the bus driver,” the LAPD said in a press release. “During the altercation, the female suspect forcibly removed the bus driver’s glasses and exited the bus.”

The driver followed the woman off the bus and got her glasses back after a second altercation, but police said they were broken and the driver suffered a minor injury in the altercation.

In response to the attack, Metro released the following statement to KTLA:

“Metro is angry that once again a member of our community has chosen to attack and steal from one of our most important bus drivers. Our employees have a right to a safe workplace and our customers have a right to a safe ride, and we are stepping up our work to prevent crime on our system.”

Monday’s violent incidents came as part of a series of violent attacks on subway operators and passengers, including a grandmother being stabbed to death and another man being shot. A Metro board member responded by saying she was “scared” and would not ride the subway alone.

The Metro board, which includes LA Mayor Karen Bass, has now approved the deployment of additional police and security officers to monitor public transportation.
