Missouri Route 125 in Rogersville closed at US 60 from Tuesday

ROGERSVILLE, Missouri (KY3) – Starting Tuesday, construction crews will close Route 125 at Route 60 to begin phase five of the interchange between U.S. Route 60 and Missouri Route 125.

In Phase 4, drivers were able to turn right onto Route 60 or Route 125, but in the next phase, that will no longer be possible. Traffic on Route 60 will be diverted to the new bridge over Route 125.

Here are the key traffic impacts you should know about:

-Route 125 at Route 60 CLOSED

-Route 60 is OPEN in both directions and relocated to the new bridge over Route 125

– The medians of the Route 60 intersection are temporarily CLOSED for up to 6 months on:

• Field path 205
• Harmony Avenue
• Field path 213
• Field path 219
• Field path 223
• Field path 241

Brad Gripka, chief engineer for the Department of Transportation, said safety is the highest priority for the interchange project.

“There have been several accidents at the traffic light intersection in recent years. We are trying to make this intersection significantly safer for road users,” said Gripka. “In particular, the construction of the roundabout at the intersection and on the ramps will maintain the flow of traffic, so that the number of accidents at this point will be greatly reduced.”

He also said that although this project has involved many road closures, the result will be well worth it for those who use the highway every day.

“We’re in this final phase and we want to make sure everyone is paying attention and looking at the detour routes or finding routes around this closure because it’s going to be very severe for everyone, especially on the 125,” Gripka said. “Once we get everything completed in mid or late August, we’ll open everything up, like the new ramps and the interchange. That’s going to have a big impact on the surrounding area.”

The entire project is expected to be completed by November 1st, but Route 125 should be open again by mid or late August. If you are in Rogersville and take Route 125 to Route 60 every day to get to Springfield, you can still take Highway D to E. Sunshine Street, as Route 125 will be unavailable until August.
