Tyson Fury was suspended from boxing just days after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk in the highly anticipated heavyweight title fight. The fight in Saudi Arabia was the first loss of Fury’s professional career, with Usyk securing the title by winning on points.

Fury, known as the “Gypsy King,” lost his WBC heavyweight world title to Usyk, who now has the honor of being the first undisputed heavyweight world champion in over two decades. The fight was a grueling encounter, with Usyk appearing to injure Fury’s nose in the eighth round. Despite a valiant effort, Fury struggled to recover and suffered a standing stoppage in the ninth round after surviving a fierce attack from Usyk.

Fury made it to the final bell, but the judges’ scores reflected Usyk’s dominance, with two judges in favor of Usyk and one in favor of Fury. After the fight, both boxers were medically suspended. Usyk, who boxed under a license from the United Arab Emirates Commission, was medically suspended for 14 days due to a dislodged dental implant, which kept him out of action until June 2.

Tyson Fury suspected of boxing after brutal, undisputed fight

“The Gypsy King” receives shorter ban than Usyk

Fury, who fought under a Nevada license, received a shorter one-week suspension, according to BoxRec. That means Fury will be allowed to return to the ring starting Saturday. The British Boxing Board of Control, which oversaw the preliminary fights, reportedly had no knowledge of Usyk’s short suspension or Fury’s, which only came to light on Friday.

In the post-fight press conference, Fury, still showing signs of the brutal fight, hinted at his future plans. “I’ve just come out of the fight, as you can see on my face, I’m a little bit banged up. And he came to the hospital with a broken jaw and he’s banged up too,” Fury noted. “So we beat the shit out of each other for 12 rounds. I’m going to go home, have some food, have a couple of beers, spend some time with my family, walk the dog, go to the dump. And Frank (Warren) and I will talk about what’s going to happen in the future.”
