New tornado emergency warning for Boston ‘too early’? Texarkana, Texas residents raise concerns

They seemed confused by the warning, as weather conditions did not indicate a possible tornado in the area. Eventually, the tornado emergency was downgraded to a potentially destructive storm (PDS).

After the National Weather Service (NWS) declared a tornado emergency for New Boston, Texas on Friday, several locals reported that the tornado never appeared. They seemed confused by the warning, as weather conditions did not indicate a possible tornado in the area. Eventually, the tornado emergency was downgraded to a potentially destructive storm (PDS).

The NWS issued a tornado warning for New Boston in Texarkana, Texas, until 7:30 p.m. CDT in an earlier post. They predicted destructive tornadoes in New Boston, Boston and Hooks, as well as pea-sized hail.

However, residents were confused by the warning, as there was nothing to indicate a possible tornado or even a PDS. In particular, there is still no official confirmation whether the warning was false. Nevertheless, New Boston residents expressed their confusion on social media, with some even mocking the NWS.

“Yeah, that makes sense, but I think they declared the tornado emergency way too early. A tornado emergency would probably be warranted in this situation,” said one user on X.

“That’s why I was confused because this didn’t look like a tornado emergency at all, maybe a PDS or tornado warning,” wrote another.

“Tornado emergency when there is no tornado,” wrote one user, poking fun at the NWS.

“Sometimes it’s more about saving lives than what the tornado looks like on the radar. If they jump the gun and declare a tornado emergency, who the hell cares? They’re trying to save lives, especially given the last few days. And it’s embarrassing to say, better safe than sorry,” said another.
