Arcadia man charged with assault, weapons possession and unlawful imprisonment after violent incident at his home

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mathew W. Austin, 45, following a disturbance at his home on Vienna Road in the town of Arcadia. The incident occurred on May 22, 2024 at around 7:00 p.m.

Officers reported that Austin was involved in a physical altercation with an unnamed victim. He faces several charges, including second-degree assault, first-degree false imprisonment, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree illegal possession of a weapon.

Austin turned himself in to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, was booked, and then transported to the Wayne County Jail. He appeared in CAP Court that same evening and was remanded in custody based on prior convictions.
