Two men shot near Mission Street, Montclair police investigating

Montclair police are investigating a shooting Friday near Mission Street and Bloomfield Avenue. Two victims, both men, were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

On Friday at approximately 5:49 p.m., Montclair Police responded to the area of ​​Mission Street and Bloomfield Avenue for a report of shots fired. Officers found two victims, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body.

The first victim, a 43-year-old East Orange man, suffered gunshot wounds to the right hip, thigh and calf. The second victim, a 32-year-old Montclair man, suffered a single gunshot wound to the left calf. Montclair EMS and paramedics responded to the scene. Both victims were treated at the scene and then transported to the University Trauma Center in Newark for treatment.

According to Montclair police, witnesses at the scene reported seeing a gray or silver minivan in the area before the shooting. Preliminary investigation indicates the shooter was in the minivan and fled north on Mission Street before fleeing east on Bloomfield Avenue.
