Fourth suspect in murder of 3-year-old Athens boy arrested in New York – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATHENS, Ga. — More than two months after a 3-year-old boy was the victim of a fatal gang-related shooting, a fourth person has been arrested.

Dakious Echols, 18, was arrested Friday in Brooklyn, New York. He is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated murder, four counts of aggravated assault and a violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. He also faces federal charges of illegal escape.

He is currently in custody in New York awaiting extradition to Athens.

3-year-old Kyron Zarco was shot and killed at a mobile home park on March 8 in what police said was a likely gang-related shooting. His 9-year-old brother’s leg was also grazed by a bullet.
