An investigation is underway into the sabotage of the railway in France that took place on the opening day of the Olympic Games, reports the railway news portal Railway supply.

Investigations into railway sabotage in France

According to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, investigators believe that left-wing extremists are involved. The style of the saboteurs’ actions indicates a connection to radical groups.

Darmanin reported that several people had already been identified who may have been involved in these acts of sabotage.

Previously, there had been information that an anonymous radical group had claimed responsibility for the incident.

On the night of July 26, the day the Olympics began, there was a massive disruption to rail operations: the SNCF reported deliberate damage at three points on the network.

The French government has now confirmed that train traffic on the high-speed network is back to normal. Repair work has been completed and operations have been fully restored.
