How Alien: Romulus benefits from Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake experience | SDCC 2024

You don’t hear anyone screaming in space. But at San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and director of Alien: Romulus gave us plenty to cheer and scream about. Director Fede Alvarez and his cast – Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, Archie Renaux and Spike Fearn – gave us a taste of what’s sure to be the scariest and sleaziest film of the summer. The franchise is in good hands: Alvarez directed the 2013 Evil Dead remake, which modernized the granddaddy of cabin-in-the-woods movies to great effect. Alvarez talks about how all that gory knowledge found its way into Alien: Romulus, and the lasting legacy of Ridley Scott and James Cameron’s work on Alien and Aliens.
