Maine State Police officer injured in Biddeford crash – NECN

A police officer was injured in an accident in Biddeford, Maine, on Saturday evening.

According to Maine State Police, the incident occurred around 7:33 a.m. at mile marker 32 southbound on the Turnpike during a traffic stop.

According to authorities, the patrol car was hit from behind by another car during the check, causing the patrol car to skid and hit the stopped vehicle.

The officer was taken to a Portland hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the car that struck the patrol car is 25-year-old Xianying Yu of Allston, Massachusetts, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Biddeford, according to police.

Yu was summoned for not staying on the right side.

The crash is currently being investigated.
