Buchanan County teacher identified as victim of lawnmower accident

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The man who died after being pinned under a lawn mower has been identified as a teacher with the Bosco Catholic School System.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of an equipment accident around 12:50 p.m. Thursday. Emergency crews immediately responded to the 1000 block of 160th Street north of Jesup.

The sheriff’s office says the man was trying to load a commercial lawn mower onto a trailer when it tipped over, rolled over and landed on top of him. Although rescue crews quickly attempted to extract and rescue the man, he succumbed to his injuries.

Jake Knepper was identified as the accident victim yesterday on the Bosco Catholic School System’s Facebook page. The school held a mass, vigil and bereavement circle for family members to attend.
