1 arrested, another is still wanted as part of the investigation into the armed robbery in Florence

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Authorities in Pee Dee have arrested one person but are still searching for a second in connection with an armed robbery.

According to Florence police, the incident occurred on July 8 in the 1200 block of June Lane.

According to police, one person displayed a weapon during the robbery of several minors. No one was injured, but cell phones were reportedly stolen.

On Thursday, officers saw a vehicle on Evans Street near McQueen Street that they believed was involved in the crime and initiated a traffic stop.

As part of the investigation, officers arrested 19-year-old Joe Crawford during the traffic stop. Another adult and two children were in the vehicle. The adult was not arrested and is believed not to have been involved in the crime.

Police are still searching for the second suspect in the armed robbery.

Crawford is being held at the Florence County Detention Center on $20,500 bail.
