North Hills woman outraged over death of her dog after tragic delivery accident

A North Hills woman claims her dog died after a UPS driver threw a heavy package over her front gate.

Naria Harutyunyan said the 55-pound package landed on her little dog, Lulu.

“I took the package and saw my dog, she could no longer move,” said Harutyunyan.

She said it happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Video from a neighbor’s security camera shows the UPS driver walking toward the house with the large package and then throwing it over the gate.

Harutyunyan’s Ring camera appears to capture the image moments later, showing the driver crouching down and looking toward the entrance gate in the direction of the package. Shortly afterward, he drives away.

“My neighbors were there,” said Harutyunyan. “They helped me with the dog to take her to the Mission Hills clinic. But they said she had died.”

Her two dogs, Cookie and Lulu, were let out to play and noticed something outside the gate. The UPS driver had not rung the bell before delivering the package, Harutyunyan said. One of the dogs was brought inside, but when Naria went back to get Lulu, she was met with the horrific sight.

She said she contacted both UPS and Amazon.

“He could kill me,” she said. “He could kill any baby playing here, or anyone else.”

Harutyunyan said she rescued the dog a year ago.

“Yesterday, before I was going to let her out, I took her and said: ‘I don’t know, Lulu, why, but I love you so much. That was the last time,'” Harutyunyan said.

UPS expressed concern about the situation in a statement.

“We recently learned of the situation in North Hills,” UPS said. “We are obviously concerned and will be contacting the customer. We will investigate the case and take appropriate action.”

In the meantime, Harutyunyan said she has contacted her lawyer as he is considering possible legal action against UPS, the driver and Amazon.
